About Us

Our Mission

Our mission at Waji is to empower individuals to take control of their healing journey, providing a safe environment to explore emotions and overcome trauma. Our approach is grounded in evidence-based techniques and user feedback, allowing us to continuously improve our platform to meet each user’s unique needs.

Our Story

The idea for Waji was born out of a regular trauma practice that saw over 10,000 patients. The psychologist who ran the practice had a unique perspective, having experienced childhood trauma himself and struggled to find relief. This personal experience allowed him to develop a deep understanding of the needs and challenges faced by trauma sufferers. Drawing on his insights and the feedback from his patients, he began adapting evidence-based techniques like eye-movement therapies into a process that was more tailored to the needs of trauma sufferers.

Based on Survey Answers from 7,865 PTSD Sufferers

Creating Waji was a continuous process of learning and refinement.

Waji’s journey began with an early app that involved a psychologist controlling a ball and asking questions to patients suffering from trauma. As we conducted research and analyzed data, we discovered several crucial pillars for effective trauma treatment.

We found that:
1. The risk of triggering trauma by repeatedly discussing it, which necessitated a different approach.

2. Less therapist guidance in terms of what to process was linked to higher success, likely because it allowed patients to evoke their own emotions rather than following a predetermined narrative.

3. Gaps between appointments hindered patients’ momentum, necessitating a more continuous treatment approach.

From Our Beta App to Launching Waji

Thanks to feedback and data from our beta app, we refined our approach and launched Waji to provide accessible and effective trauma treatment. By listening to users and leveraging real data, we continue to enhance our platform to make trauma treatment more effective and accessible. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but we’re even more excited about the potential for Waji to help more people on their healing journeys.
